A quick and simple slow cooker recipe, perfect for a midweek meal. These meatballs remind me so much of the IKEA meatballs! Bung everything in the slow cooker and serve with pasta, mash or even chips! A crowd pleaser meal that everyone in the family will love! These Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs are a firm favourite in my house.
As I said, these remind me of the IKEA meatballs so much. It’s like a right of passage that when you visit IKEA. You just have to have the meatballs for lunch, don’t you? Steven and I always do. We also grab the bread rolls and butter and a dessert. Steven always goes for the apple pie cake and I always get the berry cheesecake (it tastes so good! I genuinely was craving it the other day). We always end up eating too much and waddle our way round the market place, bunging in all the svlaats and mooshnus that we probably don’t need but convince ourselves we do.
Remember when we could go out? Anyway, back to the meatballs! Just a really simple and easy recipe. Almost fool proof. The only thing I would say is you have to regularly check on it because the sauce can produce a skin if left to sit too long. I know I said this is a SLOW cooker recipe but it can be done in the slow cooker in less than 2 hours if cooked on a high heat.
Save some money on this recipe by buying frozen meatballs instead of fresh. You could even use veggie/meatless meatballs for a healthier alternative. This recipe would also taste great with mushrooms added to it and the sauce would make any green vegetable taste absolutely moreish! The sauce is so creamy but rich at the same time. I love it.

I always find that in the colder months I crave comfort food but don’t have the time in the run up to Christmas. Also, when January comes I lose all motivation to put in loads of effort into an evening meal so any ‘set it and forget it’ slow cooker recipes really are my saving grace.

- In a bowl, mix together: double cream, milk, stock, cornflour, worcestershire sauce, garlic, parsley, salt, thyme, pepper and nutmeg.
- Once combined, pour over the meatballs. Cook in the slow cooker for 2 hours at a high heat or 4 hours at a low heat.
- Make sure to stir it through occasionally to ensure the sauce doesn't form a skin.
- Serve with noodles, mash or chips!
